slow installing any program and high cpu usage and lagg

built a new system and what a nightmare!

    asus m4a77td pro
    xfx geforce 220gt graphics
    corsair 4gb 1333
    maxtor 6L250so 250gb sata

installed a clean install from dvd 64 bit build version 7600. installs pretty quick really.

first nightmare of a problem is the graphics drivers! when i install and reboot (196.21) come back to windows no mouse and only the background picture. i spent hours trying to sort this problem in the end i put the card in the second pci-e slot and it installed drivers again and all was fine with that part.

had loads of problems with lagging and slow install and uninstalling so i decided to do another fresh install and guess what same problem with the drivers now on pci-e slot 2! so i put the card in pci-e 1 again and low and behold success again.

installing anything is really slow!! lots of cpu useage and lagging. adobe cs4 took over an hour to install! where as usually it would take 20 mins maybe a bit more! installing antivirus took 20 mins where as normally it would take less time.

i have another machine totally different spec tho core 2 duo 3.0ghz geforce 8400gs 4gb ram windows 7 64 bit build 7600 and that runs fine!

i get duplicate processes in the task manager when running setups for programs upto 4 sometimes. the processor seems to be going mental on a setup yet its doing nothing on the setup. doing setups in safe mode are quicker though.

ive had a look at a few posts on this forum found nothing that works so far. fire away with your suggestions and questions i have tried lots of things i cant remember what ive tried overall.

You may do one thing, but if you dont have proper idea about services, it may be a bot risky. Run (win+r) "msconfig" and see how many services are running and out of those which are unneeded, so stop them. Moreover, see how many programs run at startup, and disable the unwanted startup entries.

But if you want to implement it, do it carefully. Make it sure that you are not disabling a system or program which is necessary to run the computer.

There are some third party softwares which can speed up your comuter by tuning it properly. If you want, you may use CCleaner . It is one of the best in this field.

im familiar with msconfig and the startup and service tabs, (hide all microsoft) etc. i dont see why i need a cleaner on a fresh install but i did use easycleaner (toni arts).
