Win 7 partition sizes
Brand new Dell laptop
has bad HDD. I decided to increase size to 500GBninstead of just a replacement. So, what should I do about partitions? The current 320 GB shows (using MS Disk Management app) 39MB (OEM), 9.77 GB (Recovery), 28 GB (C: OS), 252 GB (D). I know the new HHD will have to be formated and I was planning to give 75 GB to the OS & apps and give 425 GB to D: for my documents. Will Windows 7 automatically allocate some space for recovery or is that something I need to do? Are 2 main partitions needed in that I do a regular backup
to an external drive. I just checked with a friend whose 500 GB HHD is formated at: 100MB, 9.77 GB, 73.67 GB, 15 MB (unallocated) and 382.21 GB. Are these sizes a good choice?
