No buddy. this registry hack wont give you any problem. its recommended by Shawn Brink as well.

You could also use Event Viewer to check you boot /shut down for any apps or services that are consistently slowing things up.

Type Event in the start menu and:

Event viewer > Applications and Service Logs > Microsoft > Windows >Diagnostics-Performance

Just did it. Works great. But when your disabling startup things, be sure to check "Microsoft Windows Operating System."
