Minimum & Maximum Processor State option

Hello

Recently updated my MSI Bios to latest version and one thing i realised was the CPU fan getting loud. So i went to Power Options in Windows 7 and wanted to adjust the Minimum Processor State and Maximum Processor State.

But when I am in the Power Management part, all I see is the Cooling Policy (Passive or Active). Previously there were 2 other options showing Minimum Processor State and Maximum Processor State. Now they are gone.

I'm not too sure what could have disabled or removed them.

Any clue or technical enlightenment will be appreciated!

thanks!

It sounds as if the BIOS update may have cut out those options from the setup utility.

That doesn't mean they're gone; perhaps they're combined with another setting.

Check in the BIOS itself... I'm guessing the update reset a function for CPU throttling or temperature control.... In fact it probably reset a lot of stuff to defaults.

Hey

i found it under Cell Menu in Bios. Enabling the EIST function got the settings back in my Win7 Power Options.
Did some readings. If one is not doing OCing, the EIST should stay on. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Anyway, does anyone uses the Smart Fan Control in MSI boards? I lowered it slightly because the CPU fan is kinda annoying sometimes.

Is there a proper way to maintain a cool CPU but not pushing it up to 100% and get a roaring fan?
