The only thing using a lot of resources, was WMP.exe, and if played through VLC, vlc.exe*32.

When i play other 1080p video (native resolution is 768p) with WMP, it plays without lag, and it said the bitrate of that was about 4-6 MB/sec. This 1080p video was 14 MB/sec, and it wouldnt stop lagging.
Ok looking at your specs I see you're on a laptop with Radeon graphics. This is a pretty good setup but the graphics chip, sharing memory on a laptop can be problematic for HD rendering. Especially when the video software has to shrink the image... Shrinking takes a lot more processing than enlarging. Even if you are connected to a 1080p screen, you're still going to run into problems with windows media player and your graphics chip.

Try this... play the same videos with Media Player Classic and see how it goes. I've had all kinds of problems with video on laptops and most often it's been windows media player acting like a resource hog. MPClassic is lightweight yet has all it's codecs built right in and optimized... making it far more efficient.

Media Player Classic - Home Cinema - Video Player

I have a Toshiba L300d and this was the fix.

Well since i am thinking of getting a new laptop, if it displays 1920x1200 nativly, even if it had the same amount of integrated graphics, would it lag still. The HDD in it has an 8 MB buffer.

You have nothing to lose by trying my suggestion...

Uless you are planning to upgrade for different reasons, this could turn into a horrible waste of money. I'm thinking your problem is software not hardware... namely Windows Media Player... probably the worst piece of software Microsoft ever produced.

I was upgrading to a Gaming PC anyway, it wasnt for this reason.

And when I play it through MPC, it will occasionally, pause for a second, and the audio is going on and off ever 3 seconds.

Did you ever check your latency when this happens. DPC Latency Checker

That looks good. No action required - at least not here.

If it's only that one video, I would suspect you are right.
