Have you tried disabling AV or other open apps to see which one is the offending app?

These issues can also be troubleshot by checking the Performance-Diagnostics log for what is hanging or slow to shutdown. Click through WEI score at Control Panel>System and select Advanced Tools. You can generate a System health report there that is revealing, too.

Question... Is it going to sleep or is it Hibernating?

When going into hibernation your system has to write your memory to disk, per your specs, you have 8gb of memory in there... it's going to take a while. (and it's going to use about 8gb of disk space too)

Try disabling hibernation (in power settings) and using conventional standby for your sleep mode... See what happens....

CHKDSK taking forever on 60 GB HDD.
i'm checking for errors on my secondary HDD and it's been stuck around the same spot for like forever (it's like 3 hrs into the error checking). B4 checking for errors, I already know that the HDD has a SMART event. If CHKDSK is taking forever, does it also mean that my HDD is gonna fail? EDIT:...
