My new $800 system is worthless while downloading.Help!

I have a new Toshiba Satellite that is running Windows 7 32bit Dual Core with 3GB RAM and ATI Radeon Graphics. Whenever I download ANYTHING, my mouse becomes so slow and choppy that it is literally impossible to do any other task while downloading anything (Firefox and uTorrent downloads.)

It runs so slow that even a basic system sound like a beep or ding will take 5 seconds to play through, and it will be all scratchy and choppy too.

I read that one person fixed it by disabling a certain function within the Malwarbyte's Anti-Malware program. I was hoping this solution would help me but I even closed the program entirely and it hasn't helped at all. I have even closed any unnecessary program and process running in the background.

This is crazy cause I have had much less powerful systems that have never had this problem. I can close down every program possible, and it will run so slow and choppy when downloading anything at all.

I mean come on! My dual core system can't even play the most basic of sounds while downloading?!?!

This is crazy that there isn't a verified solution or cause to this problem.

Any other ideas anyone? I'm desperate here. I have an $800 system that is completely worthless if I have something downloading.

Thank you for any help that you can give.

Did you look in Device Manager for a conflict? That's what it sounds like. See if there are any yellow bang ('!') on any of the devices in Device Manager.

Just checked that and there are no conflicts showing within the device manager. Is there another way to check for hidden conflicts?

Actually, I turned on "Hidden Devices" and it showed one conflict coming from an Unknown Device. I disabled it, but it is still choppy. Is it necessary to reboot after disabling something like that?

It might be an idea to find out what it is first.

have you tries uninstalling malwarebytes and installing MSE? If it is an AV conflict then switching would fix it. because if you have the problem when downloading then most likely either you have a really bad driver for you ethernet/wifi card or your AV is not scanning new downloads efficiently.

All new laptops must go to the Windows update center. Getting the important ones will most likely fix your problem. I've seen this happen many times.

Well, it seems that Malwarebyte's AntiMalware was the culprit. At least so far anyways. I uninstalled it and rebooted, and now there is no lagging at all. Just to make sure, I started downloading tons of different files at the same time and its running lightning fast as it should be.

I want to thank everyone for helping me out before I went insane.

w00t!
