Touchpad-pointer erratic movements

Hello all,
I got a Dell Inspiron e1505 -Core Duo 2.0GHZ, 2gb Ram running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit. My question is last week my pointer moves erratically not smoothly, so I thought it could be my touchpad driver. I updated my driver and still no fix. I ran a scan on AVG, used ccleaner to clean out registry and still no fix. My last option was to do a fresh reinstall. Still no fix. I have a portable mouse that i use for usb and it works fine but I hate carrying that thing around really not convenient at all. Does anyone know what the problem can be? Should I get a new palm rest and replace it? Please advise.

Thanks!

According to the website, the Synaptics drivers for your touchpad are for Vista. You might try installing them in compatibility mode.

If you're having the same issues in XP w/ XP drivers then it's likely caused by hardware not software. It could be hardware conflicts in BIOS, but I'd be willing to bet that it's caused by faulty manufacturing.

You could try flashing to the latest BIOS version for your motherboard, however be careful, BIOS can be tricky.

I think I found the problem to my issue. Whenever I plug my ac adapter into my laptop that is when the pointer gets all jumpy and erratic. When running on battery, its smooth and ok. What should I do? Do I need to purchase a new adapter?

Hi guys, I recently installed release 7600 of Windows 7, and all is well except for one or two minor issues. As of late, my Logitech G5 mouse keeps on erratically scrolling up and down on it's own, and sometimes it's fine. I had XP SP3 previously and it worked fine. I really think this...
