In principle I do not disagree. I hate waste too. But there are situations when it really does not matter because the resource is just idling. It's like not using 2 bedrooms in a 3 bedroom house because you are afraid they might get dirty.

Common Tater, I usually like your professional comments and read them with attention. But this is not an appropriate comment and a very poor analogy. If the man has a 1TB disk which he probably will not fill in the next 10 years, what is all the hype about a bit of pagefile or any system file. The space is there, he might as well use it. Or do you want him to save it for a rainy day.
That is exactly my thinking. In my system, I have an 80GB SSD with about 50GB free. I also have a 1TB storage drive, with about 550GB free (and what is being used could be easily scrapped, but since I'm not low on space, I just keep it around). Since I also have a file server at home which hosts my important file, this 1TB drive is nothing more than scratch space really. And since I'm not likely going to fill it up in the next few years...I don't see why using 12GB of it for a pagefile is a "horrible waste of space".

If somebody could "prove" that lowering of eliminating my pagefile would result in a substantial performance improvement, I would get rid of it.

Well, judging by the very immature and unprofessional PM I just received from CommonTater, I guess he did not like my last comment. Oh well - some times the truth hurts.

Hmm, too bad. He knew stuff. But he sure liked to argue.

He had been here long enough to know we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to being abusive to others.

I know John. He was just a bit too aggressive.
