    That's some nice scores

Looks like the XFX 5770, nice

SSDs are a very nice upgrade, and the prices are steadily coming down.

I don't doubt that an SSD is a nice upgrade, but still, I can't help but think some people are a little too obsessed with the WEI scores.

I'm glad that the prices on the SSD's are coming down, but I have no plans to get one anytime soon. My machine is more than capable enough for anything that I do, even with its old-school spinner drive.

    That's a good point.

    Should have mentioned it.

I don't think anyone should upgrade to get a better WEI score, it's not even a real benchmark or indication of the true ability of your system.
Upgrades should be made if you have a need, which sometimes is really a want, to improve your system. Each decision has to be a personal one.

Having said that, my SSD gave me a noticeable improvement in overall performance, everything is just snappy now.
So, if someone asks me if a SSD is a good upgrade, in my opinion I would have to say yes.
Does anyone need a SSD, of coarse not.
(My SSD is priced at $118 at newegg) Not so much more than a large HDD, if your looking for an additional hard drive.

Hello mate, as long as it does what you need then it's the perfect system.

The part of your post I highlighted is the point I was trying to make, Dave.... the obsession some people have with the score for what, the sake of bragging rights? I described it back in the original "Show Us Your WEI" thread as "WEI envy".....after all, it is a male phenomenon, primarily, the "mine's bigger/better than yours!" syndrome.

I wasn't trying to say that an SSD isn't a worthy upgrade, not at all....just that for my uses, at this point it's not worth the $$ and effort. For someone like you, who's certainly more of an advanced computer user than I, I have no doubt that it's a worthy upgrade.
