Welcome to Seven Forums scar. I have 4 Gig and I get a 7.7 . It has to do with the complete system. The CPU memory controller. The motherboard. Ram speed and timings, etc.

Ah, okay, makes sense. I saw that's it's very difficult to score a 7.9 for the CPU, that's somewhat good to know. :P Since I can't raise the CPU score, I guess the .1 for the SSD doesn't matter much.
Yes, the CPU is the hardest to get to 7.9 . I've seen all 7.9's, except the CPU. Tell the truth, except for WEI, everything else would correctly reflect the high performance of that system. WEI is an arcane guideline. It's good for an approximation of performance, but it's not something to agonize about

I think you got that score because you can't overclock a laptop by much and most of us with desktops have it overclocked to around 4GHz. As far as the memory scores, that is most based on your memory controller, memory speed and latency timings in combination with the amount of memory you have. For example, I get a 7.5 for memory when my memory speed is 1333MHz with a 9-9-9-24 latency time. However, when I have a baseclock of 200MHZ and run the memory at 8.0, I get speeds of 1600MHz and latency of 8-8-8-24 and hence a wei score of 7.7. Also, your GPU is the mobile version, so it is not as fast as the desktop version.
Don't get hung up on wei scores because they don't always tell the true speed of a pc.

Yet it's a good way to see how different components work together, Some people on this thread share certain components but have different variations of supporting hardware. It's nice to see which combinations work well. I am sure that if money were no object and the right research was done that the 7.9 CPU target would be achieved.
Here's my lowly score:
I'll be upgading to a SSD soon, so (hopefully) that will improve the performance.

Before Upgrade (Crucial m4 SSD 256GB)
After 6Gbps Card Upgrade (Crucial m4 SSD 256GB)
I just upgraded to SATA 6Gbps via a 6Gbps Controller card. Now my Crucial m4 SSD 256GB is running at full speed.
My graphics improved to 7.4. My aging (supposedly-I see no limitations) 6600 quad CPU and my maxed out RAM rates a 7.1. My low score is the hard disk at 5.9.
@A Guy... Thanks, I have put a lot of time and money into it. I am finally reaping the benefits. I hate using any other computer now because they all seem slow.
