I'm on a laptop so not really. Technically speaking, I am using one of the few laptops the video card is replaceable on, but the part must come from another Dell Vostro 1500/1700. Dell used to see the part as an upgrade, but they stopped selling it recently. I would like the nVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT, but I have nothing that warrants the cost of it, even on ebay.

The latest drivers...? I don't think the drivers have had any optimisations for the GeForce 8000 range for a very long time. The only optimisations you'll get from the latest drivers is if you had some of the GTX200 or GTX400 range cards.

And yes, I am speaking from experience: I'm running a GeForce 8800GTS. :) I still can't tell much difference from the Forceware 197.21 drivers to the latest with my card.... It's slight with some of them, but hardly any change.

As for the change from 6.9 to 6.8: the WEI score tries to put the numbers across for anyone to understand, so things are 'dumbed down' so to speak. You might find that when you had 6.9 previously, your test results put your score near the bottom of the 6.9 bracket, and this time the test varied slightly and now it's in the top of the 6.8 bracket. My HDD score for example keeps bouncing between 6.8 and 6.9 for the same reason.

Obviously it's not the system in your sig, so I'm curious now... AMD CPU looks like it got a nice score, but if you got an NForce chipset (I'm guessing this from the NVidia 8200 onboard graphics) wouldn't that board support at least some of the Phenom II processor range....?

Edit: Ok, scratch that... I found the stats you posted over here: https://www.sevenforums.com/overclock...tml#post881054 And it does support the Phenom II, up to the 140W suckers.... Lucky you.

Thanks guys, my aunt's the lucky one, she's the one I built it for.

So, the slight decrease in WEI score doesn't mean that much right? Thanks for the clarification :)

The WEI index uses a tool called WinSAT (Windows Systam Assessment Tool) to perform all the tests, then Windows simplifies the numbers to make it end-user-friendly.

If you want to test things yourself (depends on how curious you are), open a command prompt and run "winsat /?" without the quotation marks. It'll give you a list of tests you can run. Here's one example of using the WinSAT tool: What's your memory assessment speed?
