I disable mine, but only because I make frequent complete drive images w/Acronis & prefer complete drive restore if theres a problem.
But i do agree, advising others to disable it is not a good idea. Especially if there is not alternative method of recovery.
Don't burn the bridge unless you like to do an clean install ....
The membership of this forum represents a cornucopia of Windows 7 knowledge, however, I have seen so many threads with a solution of a system restore. I think that is all that has to be said.
Although I agree that system restore is a valuable resource (also for retrieving lost files with Shadow Explorer), it is a rather capricious service that works or it doesn't. I much more a fan of Imaging - that is safer and more reliable. And I know a lot of you will agree - LOL.
