chkdsk still not working on reboot

    Hi guys back again.
After 3 days of trying still cannot get chkdsk to run on reboot on my laptop.Have restored system back to factory settings and it still wont run. There is only one drive split into 4 partitions the first 3 been the restore pq and reserved and the other the main c: partition. The disk is clean have run fsutil dirty query and sfc/scannow both report that the disk is ok but its so frustrating i cannot run a proper disk check whenever i like.Have tried all the parameters i can find, but on reboot just get countdown screen which goes down to 1 then either stalls and i have to hard reboot or it just logs onto windows as normal.I have tried to run from restore functions but im not sure if its running correctly as it takes around 2 secs to complete the 3 stages where on reboot it should take muck longer(if i remember right)
any help would be fantastic thankyou

    Welcome to the Forum

    Most likely cause, first..
ChkDsk will not run at startup in Windows 7 or Vista

BUt back up your registry and make a system restore point, first. Do not want a little problem to escalate into a big one.

    Thankyou
Have looked at link and have tried this before with no joy.Although there seems to be some confusion over what the bootexecute value should be in win7. Depending on who you speek to autocheck autochk* is correct in win7 and autocheck autochk* isdelete is correct for vista. Can anyone confirm which is correct please and would this matter anyway as extra values are added when you schedule a disk check in order for it to run.Tried both values anyway and still cant get chkdsk to run at boot any other ideas its killing me here lol
    thankyou
