Extremely large unknown file

I just ran a scan of my C drive (221 GB) using windirstat, and found that there is a very large (17.8 GB) file that windirstat just displays as <Unknown> with a black square. I can't find this file in windows explorer. Do you reckon it is safe to remove this file, or just have any ideas on what it might belong to? It's taking up a reasonably large portion of my drive space after all.

Cheers
