Desktop Windows Manager Issues/Degredation

I have been having some issues with loggin into my desktops. This usually happens after I try to login from password protected screensaver. So far the only way I can avoid this is to not have a password on when the screensaver kicks in or to turn off the screensaver altogether.

Here is what pops up in the event viewer:

The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention.
Reason : CPU resources are over-utilized.
Diagnosis : A sharp degradation in Desktop Window Manager responsiveness was observed.

I also have a lot of Boot Monitoring warnings, errors, and critical reports. Mainly with

Windows 7 x64 finally!

Hi Jacen. I think I had a similar problem, in my case when I had two users logged in. Both are administrators and I had a password only on one. When I switched from one to another, one process from the first user was not terminated. I can't now remember which, but it had to do with the password. Once I set a password for that user it stopped.

Do you have more than one admin?

I'd start with uninstalling your video driver and remove the display adapter in Control Panel, download CCleaner and Drivesweeper and run removing anything to do with ATi. Download the latest ATi and CCC from either DELL's site or the ATi site, I suggest 10.3 or newer. Shut down and cold boot the PC, after the Microsoft drivers load run the ATi CCC loader and let it load drivers and see how it goes from there.

I have two admins on the computer and often my wife leaves her account running and is only blocked through the screensaver feature. Both are password protected.

I recently installed the 10.4 CCC Suite to update all the drivers and software. I have the latest drivers currently.

I found 10.4 was degraded compared to 10.3 on my desktop so I reverted back and it ran all the Unigine Benchmarks as well as it had previously so I stuck with 10.3.
