    Regular CPU temperature?

I'm curious as to what my computer's normal temperature is. I have CoreTemp running a lot of the time in order to monitor the temperature, and it's usually around 40C for both cores. Is this normal?

Also, I had a problem with this program I was running a few hours ago where it was just eating all of my processor resources, and that caused the temperature for core #0 to be at an average of 58C, and an average of 55C for core #1. It lasted for about an hour or so, so I was wondering if that could've done any damage at all. I'm pretty sure it didn't, but...better safe than sorry.

Yep, 40 is about average for CPU temperature.

A good program to use to test temps is Speedfan.

All CPU's are different. I have a Q9550 quad core at home and with a mild overclock (2.83Ghz to 3.20ghz) and stock cooling, it runs around 32-34 celcius at idle. In the 50's under load.

My AMD CPU is rated at 65c max and runs at 36 - 40 with the stock heatsink. I believe most Intel CPU's are rated at 75c max. It all depends on the model and sometimes you can get that information from the manufacturer site but it may take some digging.
