    eSATA and the Pagefile

I was wondering if it would be advantageous to place a page file on a eSATA HDD. Any thoughts?

best let windows manage the page file, unless there is a specific reason not to. win7 does a pretty good job of managing it unlike earlier win versions.

Hello RZN, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It would not be a good idea to have the page file on an external drive. If it was disconnected by mistake, you would lose all data in the page file and could cause issues with any program or action that may have been using the page file at that moment.

It would be best to keep the page file on the fastest internal HDD or SSD for better performance, and set to be managed by Windows 7.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks for the information. I've moved the page file back to an internal HDD.

Sorry about not getting back in a timely manner. I've opened some other problem issues I've been having and have been intent on getting them resolved.
