extremely slow shutdown

Hi i have windows 7 ultimate, I am now facing some wierd problem from last week when my expansion drive 500gb Seagate is connected computer takes too long time to shutdown. But i don't why my drive to be disconnected during shutdown is there any that i can try to figure out the problem what had exactly happen and Fix the problem.???? Can anyone suggest me I have high Configuration machine 4gb ram and core 2 proceccor everything was normal but from last week it started to annoying.

This is a long shot you may try. Go into Services and disable the Windows Driver Foundation.

You can use registry mechanic to remove registry error. :) so your pc will shutdown more faster everytime you shutdown. It has system monitor option. You can see how long the time your pc take to boot startup and shut down. :)

Most of us here do not recommend a registry cleaner unless you are very familiar with the registry and know exactly what you are doing. Win7 manages the registry much differently than XP, and even Vista, and much more efficiently. There are some solid and sound reasons for this advice.

Do a clean boot
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Then shut down, if it shuts down correctly, you can figure out the slow closing program that causes the problem

Does not work

Boot in safe mode then shut down. If it works, my hunch is a driver.

Startup or shutdown delays are often logged in the Performance-Diagnostics log at Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools
