Very Slow Boot

hi

I registered to have this little issue solved: I have a Aspire 7736g with windows 7 on.

Had it since December, and it used to boot very fast.

Then from one day to another it started booting very very slow, with the computer freezing at its start, and the programs available to use in more than 10 minutes...

I dont know how it happened, i dont know what caused it, it became very slow and when im using it I experience complete freezing moments wher not even the task manager is available.

Please let me know what you think and give any tips where possible

If you have USB devices hooked up to your PC disconnect them and see if this speeds it up.
If this does not help my next question would be have you made any changes to the boot deices in BIOS, the hard drive should be in the first position. Lastly it may be your OS is fractured, that is to say it is beginning to break up and needs to have a repair installation done but let's do this one step at a time.

1. Go to BIOS set-up & revert all your settings to DEFAULT then save & exit.
2. Minimize your Start-up programs, you can use Windows Defender or 3rd party applications like the free CCleaner where you can use to clean your internet clutters, repair registry errors & in the Tools there is Uninstall(er), Startup (here you can select which program should run on start-up) & System Restore.

Hey! I apologize for the long absence

Quick update, circa yesterday my computer crashed while I was playing Call of Duty! It just turned off automatically, and I hope this doesnt mean it's breaking down...

Anyhoozle, forgive my Noobicity but can you explain me what exactly is this "BIOS Set-Up" and where I can find it?

forgive this question, do you run antivirus software? slow booting can mean virus.

speaking about slow booting did anyone noticed a change of booting speed after enabling this: Run -> MSCONFIG -> Boot -> Advanced -> Enabling more CPU cores to use while start up?!

You sounds like you are a novice pc user. I would recommend you google BIOS and read a little about it so you can understand its important to be careful when you go into it. Because by reseting your BIOS you will be able to determine if your problem is with your computer, or the windows OS. If your BIOS reset fails to fix your problem, backup your data and reinstall windows. Id recommend you use AVGs free anti-virus software and Microsoft security essentials if you don't already have them

yup messing with BIOS will screw things up , cuz it's the one responsible First steps to load your system, if it's screwed the board is screwed and your OS will never run.

I already have AVG Anti-Virus, I know it's the best, but on some files I erroneally pressed to ignore and now Im running scans to check if those are a threat.

Also I have ran Ccleaner in and cleaned the registries, but still the booting is very slow and sometimes the computer expierences freezing, which before, say, the 28th of June had NEVER and I repeat NEVER experienced...

It's so weird, it happened from one day to another. Let me explain the thing a little further: this computer is bought in UK, where I spent the months of January (when I bought it) to April, then I went to Italy, and it worked just fine. I went back to the UK from the 1st of June to the 28th of June, and when I returned to Rome it suddenly started being a prostitute..

Anyway I think the only reasonable resolutions to this problem are the ones regarding this BIOS thing and eventually the reinstallation of Windows.

Now, to access the Bios, as Merkat quite charmingly said, I need to press F10 at windows Startup, which I did, and it brought me to a weird screen.

I dont know if prtscr will work and I will be able to make a screenshot of it, but what I read was this: there were two or three lines, and one of them was describing the path of windows' startup!!

While another one, to which I had control, was just a line I could edit with my keyboard...But I couldnt find anything that said "Default" or similar:3

Any clue?

*QUICK UPDATE*

Apparently the thing slowing down my pc was the unbeliavable amount of startup programs...Luckily enough I disabled all of them, geez now the pc is a lot faster!

This is done by doing:

Run->MSCONFIG->Startup->Disable All OR Disable those that u think u dont need...Mine were many...Pretty much all of them, infact I could boot the pc very fast without problems

I hope I didnt waste ur time, and u guys are great! Thanks for all the support!

I'll let u know if anything happens, but so far the problem seems to be SOLVED
