WEI CPU Frustration

So I'm stuck at a 7.8 CPU score with an overclocked (4.00GHz) 980x. The only component that seems subpar is the encoding, e.g.

I'm at 7.9s across the board aside from this and it's driving me absolutely nuts. Any suggestions on bumping this crappy 7.7 subscore to a 7.9??

Is it worth risking your rig for a tenth of a meaningless WEI point?

it's actually 0.2 per the subscore and the system is fine for overclocking...

I was looking for specific guidance as to what could boost that subscore

Dude you have a 980x running at 4Gig! I wouldn't lose sleep on that WEI score! Its not like its way off. The highest you can get is a 7.9, you have a 7.8. Come on.

And for what it's worth, I have a 930 running @ 3.5Gig and my WEI score for the processor is 7.6.

BTW you can check this sticky - Show Us Your WEI (2)

I believe WEI should come with a disclaimer:

WEI is not a benchmark. It is an arcane numbering system meant to generally rate hardware performance.

I sincerely doubt one would experience any noticeable, usable performance improvement by raising a CPU rating from 7.7 or 7.8 to 7.9. Perhaps it could be measured on a synthetic benchmark, but in real world performance I doubt it could be felt or experienced. Someone at Microsoft is laughing maniacally at the thought of people obsessing on squeezing .1 improvement on a scale that has no other comparative. Enjoy your incredible machine, and don't chase that eluisve number. You'd be better served chasing increased performance on a CPU benchmarking program than on WEI. Bragging rights are all you could achieve. A Guy

+1 to A Guy too.
But if you want to know, I did see some people with a 7.9 score but I believe they had 12GB of ram or an even higher OC on their 980 cpu.
No guarantee though.

Bragging rights are actually a large part of this And a couple of people from MS are attempting to build 7.9 machines as well, so no...the 0.2 whatevermagicmetricitis doesn't mean anything as far as my perception of the machine :)

There is a tutorial on a easy was to change the score. It doesn't actually change anything hardware wise, but it gives you the perfect score you want.

I said it before and I'll say it again... manually changing the score is sort of like kissing your sister and calling it a date. Yeah... you kissed a girl... and it was a date, but...
