I believe your description is not enough. Is it booting up fine? If so, it's probably the dedicated GPU not seated properly or you haven't configured it properly in the bios....or could be the driver...

Why don't just replace the hard drive instead?

I've had a laptop with Turion X2 RM-72. I'll say yours will perform pretty bad without the AMD 880G Onboard GPU.
