Makes sense. Browsers are accessing a specific port on the remote web server. If your firewall is blocking outgoing requests to port 80 that would prevent webserver access. Test by turning off any...

OK, I just updated my original post too, seems that ANY restart of any kind or drop to idle mode causes browsers to stop functioning... so wierd.... skype and aim work fine.

This problem is across all browsers and happens after system goes idle or after clean boot.

Browsers stop working after win7 restart

This is a really strange problem. My browsers will not connect but skype and aim work fine. This seems to happen on system startup and if the system goes into idle mode.
