Same experience here with the W7 update, while W8.1 had no issues at all in the same network. As the matter of fact the W8.1 update was downloading at 60Mb/s, while W7's just did nothing for hours......

I had similar issues with the K/M, until I realized that the both of them were plugged in to USB 3 ports. Switching to USB 2 ports fixed it for me.
