I don't think so, neither of the test sites think you have Java installed at all. If you still have the installer (the one from FileHippo is the right JRE for sure, if you aren't sure), maybe boot to safe mode, and run the installer from there. There are far fewer things running in safe mode that might be blocking the install. A Guy

A Guy hi.. I have no idea how to do the boot in safe mode.. nor what to do after I get there.
I think I had the wrong idea of what Java does.. I've just been told Java isn't needed for any of the things I listed. my error.
If you can tell me .. I can surely follow your instructions..

Are you sure you are up to this after working today ?

No problem. To boot into safe mode, you just tap the F8 key while booting your PC. A black screen with lots of "loading..." various items with scroll by, and eventually, your desktop will load. Everything will look big as it is set at a very low resolution. Just click on the Java installer like before, and see if it will complete the install. Whether it does or not, to get back to normal, you can click on start menu to reboot like normal. The PC will reboot and everything will be like always. It's actually quite easy. A Guy

A Guy hi....I should let you know everything went great up to a point.. then when I chose to Not use Admn. to download...up popped a message.."Admn. priviliges had blocked such downloads "..
    that was end for tonite..
I had to re-start my pc.. just got it back to where I can communicate again.. everything was so messed up.
I'll get it back to normal tomorrow.. then should I try again in Safe Mode to get it downloaded..and installed.
I don't recall ever having this happen before.. I'm the only one who has ever used this PC..

so I am supposed to be both owner.and Admn.. right ?
Thanks for your help tonite .. I don't know what I should do next.

Ok M'Lady, have a look at Capt.'s link. You want to have the download on your desktop before you go into safe mode. I know some installers won't let you install in safe mode, but not all. Goodnight LPT, sleep tight

I find this link very confusing with those blue icons in what seems to be the part I need to type in to get where I need to be.. so I've not tried using this page.
