Server 2008 R2 licenses and differences to win 7

I wonder if Server 2008 R2 will run with the "old" Server 2008 license keys. Does anybody know?

And: Is Server 2008 R2 really equivalent to Win 7 as Server 2008 was to Vista? Is it as snappy and does it feature the new desktop enhancements?

There is no chance that the keys will be the same.

Why not give it a try -

Windows home server vs Server 2008 R2
I'm trying to decide between Windows Home Server and Windows Server 2008 R2 for my home server PC. Ordinarily it would be a clear cut choice, but I've got a free copy of Server 2008 R2 through my academic MSDN subscription. I'd like to avoid spending extra money if Server 2008 R2 would do the job....
VS 2008 & SQL Server 2008 compatibility
While I'm still stabilising the overclock on my PC, can I ask if anyone has installed Visual Studio 2008 & SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7 x64 7600? If you do get any hiccups during install but manage to install it, does it run alright? Any problems? I'm interested in C# and ASP.NET development only....
