I installed iTunes newest version and when starting the iTunes Program I keep getting a "itunes unknown error (-50)". Anyone else run into this? Nothing comes up in a google search...

Althought I get this error message everytime I start iTunes after I click ok the program starts and seems to be operating as it should, I was even able to grab all my music, album covers ect off iTunes from my Vista HDD and install it onto iTunes in Win7.. But still get the Unknown error message when starting iTunes..

Uninstall it, then Unblock the setup before you run it,(right click on the setup, Unblock/Apply. Temporarily turn off any Antivirus program when you re install it. And you can run it in Vista compatibility mode, see if you still get any errors then. (right click on the programs icon, properties, compatibility tab, Run this program in compatibility mode for: Vista SP1/Apply).

    itunes64 - same error

I have the same problem, none of this sorted it unfortunately.
Turned off Panda Global Protection 2010, uninstalled itunes64, reinstalled it, no option to unblock so figure it already is? All that went fine, but when I run it, no luck, still get the error. If i try compatability mode i get an -itunes would rather run as win7- message, click ok to let it run and i get the error message again.
Tried running it as administrator but no difference.

Also tried the latest 32bit version, only to get a -run 64-bit version- message.

It's enough to make a grown man cry
Any help or ideas would be very much appreciated!

    cheers

Still get error (-50) procedure did not work

I uninstalled, turned off Norton firewall and antivirus, save the file to my desktop, right click and run as administrator and get the same error, CD DVD burner drivers are missing, and when I continue error (-50) and will not continue. I guess if I do not fine another solution I will find another program for my music.

I also downloaded the Gear Drivers for 64bit. The iTunes was for 64 bit also.

firewall / network settings the possible solution

I have had the same issue after upgrading iTunes to 10 and changing my iTunes Store PW. I signed out and tried signing in again - but repeatedly received an unknown -50 error. Checking the Apple suggestions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1583
I realized that my firewall / antivirus might be the problem. Everything looked OK for iTunes to have access to the internet through Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. However, I noticed that the wireless network was "public" rather than "trusted". After changing the setting in Kaspersky to "trusted" I was able to sign on to iTunes Store without problems.

    Best of luck.
