My Computer Shuts Off When Using iTunes

Whenever I leave iTunes running for extended periods of time, my computer will shut off (not go to sleep but shut off). Not only does it die but I cannot turn it back on for at least 5 minutes. I have even had to take out the battery and even that does not always work. Any ideas on a solution? Or even a more specific cause than "my computer doesn't like iTunes"?

It sounds like an overheating problem. Most CPU chips have built in thermal protection and if it gets to the thermal point it will power off the PC, and it can take a while for it to cool down to the point it will power back on.

Is this a laptop or desktop? You didn't fill out the system specs.

In either case make sure the PC is located where it can get adequate air flow (and not hot air) and if it's a laptop consider using a "cooler" base.

I also think is is from overheating, because i had the same problem with my old laptop. What i did was blew into the fans in the back of the computer and got all the dust out and it never overheated again! You should try it, tell me how it works out for you.
