Disappearing Emails

I had 50 unread emails disappear in Thunderbird. Why, and where did they go? Any help would sure be appreciated.

I was surprised to read about your problem. Never happend to me with Windows Mail. But I can see that it is fairly common with TB.

Thank you, richc46 for your reply. I will try Mozilla's help section and see if I can solve the problem. I thought it might be AVG that might be causing it. I sent them an email, and they replied that their software does not delete emails.

Hi richc46, I was not able to recover my lost emails, but I think I found what caused it. When you delete a file in TB, it is not deleted but is still retained. You have to compact the various folders to clear these files. I didn't know this, and if you do not do this it can delete your inbox. I hope this helps someone else.
