Run ERUNT Autobackup as a task in Windows 7

Many of you are familiar with ERUNT (The Emergency Recovery Utility NT). It will help you perform a complete Registry Backup and Restore. Good protection for registry errors.

ERUNT

Some have had problems with the autobackup feature in Windows 7. This feature makes a complete registry backup every day. For some this doesn't work, so you can accomplish this using the Task Scheduler instead.

To create the task:
Start> Type Admin tools in search box and press enter

Select Task Scheduler

In Actions, on the right pane> Create basic task

Name> Whatever you want

Description> Whatever you want

Next

Trigger> When computer starts

Next

Action> Start a program

Next

Program/Script> Browse to C:\Program Files\Erunt\Autoback.exe (in x64 it will be C:\program files (x86)\ERUNT\Autoback.exe)

Open

Add arguments> %systemroot%\erdnt\autobackup\#date# /noconfirmdelete /noprogresswindow

Note the spaces before the /

Also you can add a days switch for the number of days, if no switch it will default to 30. For instance, if you wanted 10 days of backups

Add arguments> %systemroot%\erdnt\autobackup\#date# /noconfirmdelete /noprogresswindow /days:10

Select> Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click finish

Finish

Security Options

Change User or Group: enter System

Select Run with highest privileges

Configure for: Windows 7

To check it's working, reboot and navigate to :

C:\windows\erdnt\autobackup\

There should be a folder with today's date

I can't believe, after this length of time, there are no replies to this great post, for eruNT. I had found other procedures described, but with more steps and greater complexity.

I was about to go to RegBak, but I've been with eruNT for years, and prefer to continue with it because I know how it works and what it does.

I had then discovered RunSU, and I'm sure that's good for other things, but for eruNT, this better and doesn't even need a StartUp directory entry.

The author of eruNT should really link to this post.

Because the thread is old, I'm following the moderator's advice to start a new one, as the topic is slightly different.

But for anyone else coming across this, and following these directions ... has anyone successfully restored a Registry backup made in this way? If yes, then some reassurance that the daily backup folder it produces is minus one sub-directory is a non-issue (or, better yet, non-repeatable) ... would be helpful.

See the new thread for details. Possibly a reply may appear there, sooner or later, resolving the question. At the moment, I have to assume no one else (at least, on this forum) is using eruNT's AUTOBACK, with the above method, for daily Registry backups, so it's not possible to confirm what I've seen.
