    Hi there
I gave up on Nero after version 6. It's just become so much BLOATWARE these days -- good example of people just ruining a great product by just cramming it with "feature-itus" 90% of which aren't used anyway.

The only useful "feature" Nero had bundled with it was the "Virtual Drive Image" but that hasn't worked since VISTA was introduced back a few years ago.

There's MANY MANY better products out there now some free and Windows 7 in any case can burn ISO images.

    Cheers

Nero.....people still use that commercial bloated stuff???? Geez, are companies like Roxio still putting out applications that rival the install size of Microsoft office????

Imgburn or cdburnerXP. Both free, both small, both effective, both work fine on Windows 7.

I agree completely. Bloated is an understatement IMO Nero takes over your entire computer. The worst software on the planet no doubt about it.

No, my money is on Quicktime as the worst malware ever.

I've had good luck with Nero 8.3.13.0 under Win7 X64. I haven't tried other software, but I like the disk verification feature in Nero, although it can be a little slow. (That feature was absent in the latest Adaptec/Roxio burner software I've seen, a few years ago.) It's handy for determining if a Win7 iso was correctly burned to DVD.

However, I only have "Nero Burning ROM" itself installed. It probably doesn't make sense to buy the Nero package to only use the burner application.

Try Ashampoo Burning Studio 9 for a light and complete burning suite. Puts Roxio's bloated junk to shame and has been working fast and flawlessly with my Win7.

Other than that it's IMGBurn and nothing else for the simple ISO burn.

I can verify that Nero 8.3.13.0 works fine under windows 7 x64 RTM. I've tried all features except for the Back up. I don't even install that.

Edit- I'll add that the latest clone dvd and anydvd also work fine:)
