Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I did it without any special codecs and other fancy tricks.
It's so simple... I just changed extension from .flv to .mpg.
Thumbnails are back and my KMPlayer has no problems with playing this.

ps. this whole solution with shark007's codecs doesn't work for me on win7x64

Sounds like in your case, lukasss a simple refresh of the thumbnail cache would've sufficed've got it to work that's all what matters
As for sharks codec...did you install the 32 bit portion of it as well?
If not at least you know why it wasn't working

Yup, I installed both parts - 32 and 64bit.
I made everything like in tutorial, but unfortunately that didn't restore thumbnails.

I changed all 'flv' extensions with freeware Extension Changer and now it's fine.

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit running in Parallels virtual machine

Something to check: Even if you never use Windows Media Player, it still needs to be turned on in Windows if you want to display FLV thumbnails. Windows 7 uses Windows Media Player 12 to generate thumbnails for non-native formats. Go to Control Panel - Programs and Features - Turn Windows features on or off - find WMP 12 and make sure it is on. If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, now go into K-lite or Shark (either one, doesn't matter which one) and set ffdshow as the preferred 64-bit decoder for H.264, because the 64-bit versions of Windows use the 64-bit decoder to display thumbnails. You may need to run K-lite or Shark as admin (Right-click + Run as Administrator).

Transfering files to thumb drive gets stuck at 5 sec
Okay so this is an odd/annoying issue. I am able to copy files no problem that are small roughly around 10 to 50 MB from what I've seen. But large files (1 GB or more) when it gets to around 5 seconds remaining it will completely stall and I'll have to pull it out to get the window to even go away....
