    Everest No More

Looks like Everest could be no more after this week and,

BUDAPEST, Hungary - October 06, 2010 - FinalWire Ltd. today announced the immediate availability of AIDA64 Extreme Edition 1.00 software, a streamlined diagnostic and benchmarking tool for home users; and the immediate availability of AIDA64 Business Edition 1.00 software, an essential network management solution for small and medium scale enterprises.

As a descendant of the award-winning AIDA16 and AIDA32 software, and the successor to the widely popular diagnostic utility Lavalys EVEREST, the brand new AIDA64 version leaps forward into the next decade by introducing a collection of 64-bit processor and memory benchmarks, an enhanced 64-bit system stress test module, and a further expanded hardware database.

"After the splitting up of Lavalys, we at FinalWire are happy to continue our efforts of delivering a dependable monitoring software to our faithful users" said Tamas Miklos, managing director of FinalWire. "Since the introduction of our first diagnostic utility ASMDEMO in 1995, we have built a passionate community of hobby users, hardware enthusiasts, and professional overclockers. Using the valuable feedback we have collected from them in the past few years, we have created a software for the new decade of 64-bit multi-core systems."

Few comments from Fiery the owner and author of AIDA64 here,

FinalWire Announces AIDA64 State of the Art Diagnostic Software | techPowerUp

Lavalys never purchased or "inherited" AIDA32. There used to be a commercial rights agreement between Lavalys and me (the "individual") that has been terminated and cancelled on October 01, 2010. The intellectual property rights related to AIDA32 and EVEREST has always been, and still is mine. In fact, that's what the quite peculiar Hungarian IP law dictates, so if anyone's interested, you can look it up :)

Actually, it's not FinalWire or myself, but Lavalys that may be in a position of violating my intellectual property rights. My lawyers will analyse the situation and they will advise me about the next steps to take.

We'll see how that turns out, but one thing is sure: you will see AIDA64 to evolve, and time will tell what happens to Lavalys and EVEREST.

    Yes or No

Is this an attempt to gain market at Everest's expense or is Everest on it's way out? There is no news that I see on Everest's website to confirm or deny this. Maybe it's a legal battle. I am an Everest user and am keenly interested.

Read the second quote I posted carefully especially this part from the author of AIDA64,

Also if you read all of Fiery's posts in the techPowerUp link, Lavalys has also removed their support forum and there haven't been any beta updates to Everest in a month (where there was usually one a week or so).

The only thing that has really changed is the name from Everest to AIDA64 (the timeline show here helps, About FinalWire | AIDA64 ), with the author taking back full control of the program.

Sounds like a huge scam to get everyone who paid for Evererst to pay for it all over again. I could care less who owns or doesn't own it, that is their problem not mine. I never got a single update memo or email about upgrading before this lame time limit. SCAM! Hopefully the old Everest registration numbers will still work on the older version which I have a copy of because I refuse to pay again.

I sorta somewhat agree with you, and like you I really don't care who owns the program as long as my current version works with my current system. As for future upgrades, I'm not sure I'll do another purchase as I rarely use the one I have now.

I was just hoping I could get the "new company's" version to see if there's any difference. I sent them an e-mail so we'll see how customer oriented they are :)

Everyone who missed the promotion and whatnot, it cannot hurt to email with a request saying that you missed the news until now. What's the worst that can happen?
