Sounds like a huge scam to get everyone who paid for Evererst to pay for it all over again. I could care less who owns or doesn't own it, that is their problem not mine. I never got a single update memo or email about upgrading before this lame time limit. SCAM! Hopefully the old Everest registration numbers will still work on the older version which I have a copy of because I refuse to pay again.
I sorta somewhat agree with you, and like you I really don't care who owns the program as long as my current version works with my current system. As for future upgrades, I'm not sure I'll do another purchase as I rarely use the one I have now.

I was just hoping I could get the "new company's" version to see if there's any difference. I sent them an e-mail so we'll see how customer oriented they are :)
    Good idea, I'm interested also,

That is another thing, even when they "upgrade" Everest I can't see any difference from the last version. Unless this "new name" version is better with more feature's "which I doubt" it's just another way to make you pay for something you already paid for.

I have a feeling this means that our old registration numbers will not work the next time we try to use them to get the old Everest working.

In the mean time, let me get my violin out for the poor company than has some lame deal going on with who ever marketed the name "Everest" before this fiasco occured which I could care less about.

This all sounds like another excuse "scam!" to get everyone to pay for Everest "with a different name" all over again. FOOWIE!

    Thanks for posting Stormy. :)

I can tell you from experience that some of the updates are to intergrate new hardware into the mix. Example, my older version would not correctly read and indentify my Gigabyte motherboard (GA-X58A-UD5), and since the version I had was older than a year I had to purchase (at a discount) a newer version that would correctly read my board.

    Which leads to this point....

To their credit, it is/was posted that you only get free updates/upgrade for a year from your original purchase.

In my case since my subscription was outside the 12 month period when their update incorporated my motherboard I had to pay for the update... at a discount.

    My point....

1- their updates are usually for incorporating new hardware or minor improvements. Thus you will see no improvements if it doesn't affect you.

2- It is posted that you only get 12 months of free updates/upgrades. It's not like this is hidden.

Do I think the new comapny is "ripping" people off, no, I think they are sticking with the model Lavalys used.

Should they "extend" their offer for customers who's copy is less than a year old...yes.

    My two cents.

Everyone who missed the promotion and whatnot, it cannot hurt to email with a request saying that you missed the news until now. What's the worst that can happen?
    Did that...

Got a response from FinalWire two days ago giving me to go ahead (reg code) to download their version of Everest called "AIDA64 Extreme Edition"

Other than the name change they look pretty much the same. Hadn't noticed any other changes so....

To their credit they answered my e-mail pretty quick. Just asked for my registration e-mail for Everest and sent to the registration code for AIDA64.

    Good on them :)
