Strange search bar appearing when browsing internet?

    I tried that and I still have the problem, though it has changed slightly. The box is different but still tries to finish my words. and there are no buttons (x or settings) this time. See for yourself.

    Are you perchance referring to Chrome's "Instant" feature? There should be a link to switch it off right beside the search box, at least if you browse to your Google "home" page, www.google.com/ig

    Edit: my bad, you specifically mentioned a separate search bar.

    Instant is only on Google...
    they are having this issue everywhere except Google.
    The op has provided screen shots.

    funny how it says nothing about that in the extensions list, but it is actually the cause of it. thanks for solving my problem.
