Anything, Really.

I guess more security than anything, but maybe some something I can edit a large number of music files or somethings.

I tried a lot of the "free" programs from the list and they just seemed like a waste.
For almost all of my music and videos (both movies + music videos) I'm a big fan of RealPlayer. It's very customizable, easy to use, has a lot of great functions, and has a FABULOUS "Download This Video" button that allows you to download almost any music video or film that you wish.

A couple of other favorite apps are: for Desktop arrangement: Stardock's 'Fences' and for IM/video/telephone communicating: Skype.

Sweet! New tuner and now HDTV Channels
I bought a Hauppauge 2250 tuner and put it in my Media Center PC. I now get all of the network TV High Def channels. 4, 5, fox, and 7 now have 4.1, 5.1 and 7.1 as HD channels. Are cable companies required to make those channels available since they are broadcast channels?
