I started having this problem when Windows Live updated. It's not any 3rd party software. Windows Live worked perfectly fine before the upgrade.

I doubt you can reverse to the older version at this point. The upgrade over may be the problem if you are not able to find any problem being caused by another program you have on. This is why you may want to consider removing the present installation for a fresh download in case you had a bad install to start with.

I already told you I tried that. A few days ago I installed and then reinstalled the program.

I am logged into WLM 2011 right now and have not had any problems whatsoever since updating in october (including facebook integration). It seems the problem is nor WLM but something related to your installation, or conflicting software.

EDIT: I downloaded the 160MB package from windows update, and chose to update my previous WLM only, with no other features.

Please read my posts. I have ALREADY done that.

I just checked out window's live solution center site's forums. A lot of people are also having the same problems. Most of the topics are about people unable to login with the same error message as mine's. None of the solutions are working for them as well.

Here I simply updated over the earlier version without any difficulties. As far as the actual solution you may need to see a fresh install of Windows to get things going for you since nothing else has been working.

Typically constant errors like this are often found to be a problem in system registry itself if no other program is interfering. When going back to look over those other threads take notice if anyone mentions running any of the same programs you have on. It sounds like a common factor is involved.

UPDATE:

JMH just posted a news article regarding WLM and other messenging services being turned off temporarily to prevent the spread of a new I-Worm type bug. While mainly pointing at the WLM 2009 this may have effected you. https://www.sevenforums.com/system-se...f-prevent.html

Do you know how long this has been into affect? I have not been able to login since the new upgrade last month.

I went to the forums to get help. However, no one would reply. I called Mircosoft. They refused to help me. They said only paying members will get tech support. I told them that the forum support was not providing any efficient support. They told me that forum support is my only option. I also asked to speak to a supervisor, but they refused and hung up the phone on me.

That sounds about right! You need your paid subscription or ...???

Upon seeing the article there I just had to wonder if there was something being detected and not allowing you to log on despite repeat installs. The next other thing would be how you are connecting online and WLM not being able to auto configure itself for you.

The later sounds more likely a reason then any security risk from your end preventing things. Unfortunately you have to be able to sign in before you could check the last tab for the connection status. That shows if you are logged onto the WLM servers.

My internet is a landline in a dorm. I never had any issues in the past using WLM in my dorm room. The internet service is still the same. My campus is not blocking it. I'll call campus tomorrow to see if the problem is the campus's firewall.

It does sound a bit odd that every other time WLM was working for you but now. The campus firewall being a possibility is something you can look into.

I've had numerous occasions where you had to wait just to get signed in but was always temporary. Those were times when it was MS being bogged down a bit with the screen messages seen. The initial beta version saw a problem and was later tried again to see results.

One question to ask here would be are you still able to signin where a Windows Live id is required? TechNet, Connect, or other MS sites? If you are not able to then you would need to look at getting another Live id to try sign into WLM with that.
