    pdf files

I get newsletters and they are pdf and they open in my photoshop elements program and won't open anywhere else. Other people who get this same newsletter can open them in files and read them fine. I have windows 7 and can't read them. Any suggestions.

I use the free Foxit reader program, and have had no problems reading or opening any PDF file I'm come across.

I use it for ~3years now...got fed up with Adobe's resource hog and haven't regretted that step yet.

    Hi Patti,

Windows 7 can't read pdf files on it's own.

You need a program to do it. Presumably your photoelements is the program you have which can read them.

If you want to use a different program to open and read pdf files - d/l and install one ( there are several free ones ) , and associate it with pdf files.

It will probably offer to asssociate itself with pdf files either while you are installing it, or the first time you run it.

You might try TIFF, PDF, DjVu, Comic Book Archive (CBR or CBZ), XPS viewer

or Tracker Software Products :: PDF-XChange Viewer, Free PDF Reader

Download Adobe Reader. It will automatically ask you as updates become available

    Download Adobe Reader here.

PSE actually allows you to edit the pdfs.

Patti, everyone has their favorite. But if you are looking to just open and read a PDF, Adobe is the LAST program I would install. It's the first one I deleted on the desktop I recently bought.

If you decide to try Foxit you will get this page during install.

    pdf files-foxit4_install.png

Be sure to uncheck the two boxes (they are checked by default) and then at the bottom hit DECLINE and it will continue. This prevents ASK from being install which is a stupid search program that you should avoid.
