adobe reader update put icon on my desktop ... again

    Hey guys,

This obnoxious behaviour is getting beyond annoying. Does anyone know how to prevent Adobe's updates from putting the icons back on the desktop? Day before yesterday or something 10.1 came out I think, so all the clueless people are calling up the support desk "halp omg there's something new on my desktop i think my pc got teh virus???", not to mention the people who "accidentally" dragged it somewhere, or hit delete on the wrong icon, etc.

Primo PDF works great for creating PDFs, but we haven't found a suitable replacement reader yet. Suggestions on this would be welcome too.

Maybe msconfig and disable Adobe at startup?

I have just reinstalled everything and Adobe Reader was one of the first to go.
I am currently trying NITRO PDF READER and it looks like a great program

Every time I update Adobe Reader it throws a shortcut on my desktop. I just drag it to the round file. Not sure there's anything you can do about it, except what has already been mentioned above.

Nitro PDF does look interesting. I've heard good things about that Fox reader too. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, binning the icon works. It's just that there's always plenty of non-tech people here who get scared when their desktop even remotely changes. We had to put out a bunch of slides on the department forums to let people know what it was about. Sigh.
