    Program to open programs....

    Hello

I have a quick question, I know there are programs out there to open programs that normally open in full screen in a window but I can't seem to find any. Does any one know of any good ones for windows 7 64 bit? For instance I am trying to open GTA 4 in a window and not in full screen which is what it opens in automatically.

Hi wolf and welcome to SF.
Normally those settings are either made in the game itself or like in this case executed as a switch in the Target line of your Shortcut. But GTA4 apparently handles that a little different.

Try it, a little help for some low end pcs

    -nomemrestrict -novblank -renderquality 0 -shadowdensity 0 -texturequality 0 -viewdistance 1 -detailquality 1 -windowed -percentvidmem 100 -noprecache -dx9

    1. Write down this text in a single line in a txt file,
    2. rename it to commandline.txt
    3. drop in " \Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV" folder
    4. Run the game

If you really only need the windowed part, just leave tout he other "optimizations" so your commandline.txt holds only -windowed

Thanks for your reply and the welcome, but it does not seem to work I should have mentioned that I got the game from steam so ya sorry about that... or at least it does not work when I place it in Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto iv episodes from liberty city. I am sure I put it in the wrong place but if you could help I would appreciate it. Oh ya and all I need is for the game to be windowed as I have a pretty decent pc. Though I do appreciate the extra information. Thanks

I don't use Steam but here's what I found on SteamUser forum:

just make a shortcut of LaunchGTAIV.exe
and then right click and select properties
and in the "Target" box after all the text there you make 1 (one) space with the Space key and write you commands.

    example:
    "G:\steamapps\common\grand theft auto iv\GTAIV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -windowed

I hope that works...sometimes those Cr*p DRM launcers don't pass along commandlines.
