    Itunes and win7 64 bit

Ihave three windows 7 64 bit machines. Two are HP one tower one laptop and also one Dell. The Hps are running home premium and Dell Professional. On attempting to download latest itunes 10x64bit.... the following happens. Laptop says that the installer is for 32 bit and I should download the correct installer, will not install but also will not let the installer file be deleted.
Tower installs but says software to communicate with Ipod is not correct. itunes starts but will not sync or work.
    Dell downloads and works perfectly.
I have tried to remove, run all suggestions that I can find. Nothing works. Have used Orca and win zip and will not allow Quicktime msi to be deleted. I have spent hours trying to resolve this. I need the two HPs to work as the Dell is for business only.
There has to be a solution as there are countless posts and frustrations out there. I had to dig out old XP to download any music to wife's IPOD.

How do I remove the installer from laptop that says it is 32 bit?
How do I get software to work to communicate to IPOD on Tower.
Is this just an HP problem? I have seen other posts from HP owners who like me are giving up and going back to other XP.
I am at my wits end HELP

Don't give up on Win 7 yet. And there are plenty of people on this forum with HPs.

You need to make sure you have the correct version of iTunes for the OS. So, if you're running a 64-bit OS, you need to get the 64-bit version of iTunes, if you're running a 32-bit OS you need the 32-bit version of iTunes.

The best way to get the correct version is to go to Apple's website uisng Internet Explorer, which will detect the OS you're using and offer the correct download version to you for that machine.

Know that the 64-bit version of iTunes won't install on a 32-bit OS and vice versa.

Also have a look at this post.... Major problems with iTunes Installation!

    Let me know.

I have made sure that I am installing the 64 bit package from Itunes. The installer even has 64 in the title. It is the same installer for all maachined. It is the one at the bottom of the page in blue that says go here for 64bit version. I will try and redo the suggestion above again. I really like version 7 and this is the only "glitch" I have encountered. Thanks fo the support, I will let you know if this works.

    Success at last

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP
I got one computer fixed and itunes working fine. I had another "perfect" uninstaller that missed over 186 items and two apple items that needed to be completely removed. Installed and ran REVO Uninstaller and was just blown away!!!:):):)
I also removed for good ZoneAlarm as it had been slowing my computer down and remember hearing that it conflicted with HP drivers.
Computer is running faster and itunes is working.

It is amazing how you feel you are doing everything right and it just takes the proper combination of information and patience to succeed!
    Thanks again
    Still Dopey but smiling now!!!
