Need help with a .JAR file...

Ok, there's this *.jar file which I used to have. I extracted the files from it with WinRAR just to see what was inside but, me being the idiot I am, I forgot to uncheck 'Delete files after extraction' so now I have a bunch of files (all *.dat I think) and two or three folders (META-INF or something).

So can anyone please tell me how to 're-compress' or 'merge' or 'convert' these files into a single *.jar file? I tried compressing them into *.zip and renaming the extension to *.jar but I remember the actual *.jar being 800kb or something but the *.zip/jar file is 1.1mb.

    Help?

    Seriously? No one??
Make a new Windows compressed .zip folder, place your files etc. in that .zip folder. Change the extension to .jar. I know it's the same info as you posted, but I used to do it that way years back with Firefox

He's right...all a jar really is: a renamed Zip archive
The difference in size is probably not the different compression setting but rather any file you additionally compressed into it. (it wouldn't hurt anything since it's not called by the original XMLs

But the thing is, I know I should have mentioned this in my post, the thing is that it's a mobile application. You know, a mobile game in *.jar format. And my mobile doesn't accept any application which is more than 1mb.

If all the data in that file could be compressed into 800kb in *.jar format, and if *.jar is nothing but a renamed *.zip, then why is it that the *.zip file is 1.1mb?

    Hello!

You are sure no extra files have crept in? Otherwise, you could quickly give Shadow Explorer a go. ShadowExplorer.com - About

Just navigate to the location, find the .jar, right click on it, export.

It works very well. I have used it once or twice.

    Give it a whorl!

Thanks everybody, but I just found the original *.jar file in a backup drive! Once again, thanks for all your help!

Oh btw, has anyone here heard of the mjBook application?
