How access software not showing up under new user name?

    Hi,

I want to use some software that is already on my computer under a different/new user name. Do I have to download the same software again under the new user name or is it somehow possible to access the software from the new user name?

    Thanks,
    yeto

You don't have to re-install the programs. Just place the shortcuts in the All Users start menu, and you're ready.

Shortcuts are found in two places:
    1. C:\Users\Peter Dzomlija\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
      • You can access this location by clicking the Start Orb, right-clicking "All Programs", then clicking "Open"
    2. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
      • You can access this location by clicking the Start Orb, right-clicking "All Programs", then clicking "Open All Users"

Usually when you install a program, the installer (in most cases) asks if you want to place a shortcut in the All Users area, or for you only. Placing a shortcut in the All Users area will mean the program is accessible to everyone, including any new users you may create later.

Simply click on the red triangle to report the post/thread, giving the reason as Solved.

    Hi,

I was able to get the shortcut moved to the all user start menu but when I clicked on it under the new user name it asked me if I wanted to install the program. Is this normal? Will the program be downloaded on my computer twice if I click install?

    Thanks,
    yeto
