Windows Live Essentials

Please could someone advise me how to get my show webcam feature back on the new messenger?
I really dislike the new features. I have tried using an older messenger, but as everyone will probably know, it forces you to install the newer version when you sign in

Click your UserName, select Show Menu Bar. On the Menu Bar, select Actions, Video

I had the New 2011 Versio. i removed the whole package and re-installed 2009 version. As i loved that version. (:

Has anybody had issues installing Windows Live Essentials? I've already tried the online version that downloads only the utilities requested, and the full 134MB download version, but only "Writer" and "Silverlight" will install onto Windows 7 BETA x64. What's up with that?

Does anyone know if Windows Live Essentials is a required program for Windows 7? I see it sitting there in my list of programs sucking up about 86.5 MB of space, and I doubt I've even opened it up once. I just wanted to check if it has some important components... Thanks
