.NET Framework program incompatibily on Windows 7

I'm trying to use a program called streetsmart pro, but it's having a .net framework problem. It was designed for 2.0. It works on my XP machine, but no luck in Windows 7. I tried disabling 3.5 in the turn windows features on/off menu, but that didn't help. It hangs on the loading screen. I've tried windows compatibility troubleshooter with Windows XP SP2 settings. Didn't help. Any ideas for troubleshooting .net incompatibilities?

    Thank you

    Streetsmart in Windows 7

I to have been having trouble using Streetsmart in Win7. Their tech support is no help. .net framework is 3.5.1. Haven't figured out why this works, but discovered that if I set up a new standard user (i.e. not administrator) account and log onto that, Streetsmart works. If you mess around with that account too much Streetsmart quits working and hangs at various atartup stages. For example I created a standard account, got Streetsmart to work, then changed it to an administrator account. It quit working, and continued to hang even when I changed the account back to standard. So I have a special account now that I do nothing with except run Streetsmart. Have to switch users to get to it, but it's better than nothing.

I've heard the .NET framework 2.0 and above only works on Vista. I'm not sure about Windows 7, perhaps it supports only .NET 2.5 or 3.0? I'd like to find out for sure, just so I know for future use.

That's not true. .NET Framework and programs written in .NET should work without any problems on Windows 7. But of course there MIGHT be bugs in .NET programs or even in Windows 7. For example I wrote about problems with scrollbars here: https://www.sevenforums.com/software/...lications.html
Seems like it's a problem of Windows 7, because several programs have this issue in Windows 7.

I am trying to run a program that requires at least 2.0 .net framework. IT WON'T RUN. The FAQ's say to have at least 2.0 framework to run the program. I thought Windows 7 includes 2.0 Framework? To be sure I went to the Microsoft download site and downloaded to my desktop 3.5 .net framework setup which includes 2.0 framework. After I downloaded it I was unable to open it. I even tried to run it as administrator. NO GO. I right clicked on the icon and there was a column "How TO Open This File" The next message said that in order to open a .exe file I could download this program "Irfan View" to run the program. I did install Irfan View but I have absolutely no idea how to get it to run the .net framework file I am trying to run and install. I looked at all the file extensions supported by Irfan View and I did not see .exe file association listed. This sounds like to much work to just open a downloaded microsoft file. I think I should be able to at least open the 3.5 .net framework file and maybe I could or should receive a message that says something like "The file you are trying to run/install is already on your OS" or something like that so I can go back and try to further troubleshoot my original program that I can't install.

    streetsmart pro

I know the question was both about .NET framework and sspro. Mys streetsmart pro started loading and hanging, re-installed, etc. Found a solution on social.technet forum.

Go to properties for the program, click on compatibility, and check the disable visual themes box. Do NOT run in any compatibility mode. Do NOT run as administrator, just disable those visual themes. Simple, and it is working for many people.

Just an FYI there's no reason why you shouldn't install several different .net versions. Different software uses different versions....
