I am curious if there are any recommended system tuning software for 64 bits windows 7? I come across Advanced System Optimizer 3 and PCKeeper. I have not tried either of them but I have heard a few bad reviews for ASO.... Any idea?...
I'm not sure if you can get Windows 7 to run any better (faster) than it does, short of upgrading your hardware.
And also to add, using tweaks for performance can eventually cause you other issues.
As p5bdkw said, best to upgrade your hardware.
Could you fill in your system specs so we can see what you are running and hopefully mak esome recomendations.
But for now, the best is to upgrade to an SSD, i hear from a lot of people that is the best way of speeding up the system.

you are apsolutley WRONG !
ASO3 is one of the best.
known issuse about aso3 hapend if you don't use it corectly.
I have tested about 20 or even more tuning utilities and realised that aso3 is simple the best for me.
just take care what options you will use that's all
(most comon porblem is when you check all the file types in disk clean options)

Never use these software, they will cause problematic situations, system corruption and even BSODs
There is almost no tweaking that can be done to Win 7 to speed it up. The system is designed to diagnose itself and take care of itself which it does remarkably well. Win 7 maintains itself and that includes the registry.
Claimed Boosters and cleaners are pure snake oil. At best they do nothing except use resources. At worst, they can mess your system up, slowing it down, and even crash it. There is no utility out there anywhere that can speed Win 7 up and improve its performance, at least not at this time.
1000% Agree! If you want to optimize your system then try out the tips on BlackViper's site. Tuning software is in the same vain as Registry software, not really needed.
But if you want to find out what the wiser people on this site say is true, then see what happens when you use these type of programs.

I was thinking if there is a good tuning software for Win7 at the moment to tweak the system and since for some reason my chkdsk would not start on boot up even if I schedule it to start on reboot. Using sfc /scannow reveals there are corrupted files but unable to fix.
I am actually thinking if a repair install would fix the issue...
EDIT: I see many people are reporting problems when using it with win7... I will stay away from these for now...

Sometimes running sfc /scannow a few times will eventually fix the violations. Give it a try.
