"Java Auto Updater" driving me crazy...?

Almost every day a flashing box appears wanting me to let Java update itself.

I even went into the control panel, found Java and told it not to look for updates etc. It totally ignored me and still does it every day.
    "Java Auto Updater".

Anyone got a solution that will help me tame this wild horse?

Stop the Java Updater from running at boot in msconfig or any other tool you have loaded for this.

In the control panel under Java, I click on the Update tab and uncheck Check for updates automatically. I click APPLY (and OK) and then come back into it, and I find the box has been re-checked!

If you stop the jushed.exe, it will leave you alone.

Suggestions above should work. Could also try:

    Control Panel > Java
Java Control Panel > Update tab
Select from drop list: "Notify Me: Before downloading"
Deselect (uncheck): "Check for Updates Automatically"
Click "Never Check" on pop up
    Click "Apply"
    Click "OK"

Click on the control panel, then click the Java icon. Click the update tab, and uncheck the box.

This is occurring because you dont have the required privileges Java needs.

    GoTo>
    C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javacpl.exe
...right click > run with admin privileges.

    Uncheck java update > Apply>Ok.

This annoying anklebiting is why many tech enthusiasts don't allow anything in msconfig>Startup except AV and gadgets/stickynotes if used.
