Programs won't install (Out of Memory)

Greetings everyone, how are you all?

FIrst let me apologize if I posted in the wrong forum section; this seemed to be the perfect match from my prespective.

Well, I have this problem... I have been using Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit since a year now I guess if not more. However, a week ago, I decided to install Ubuntu 10.10 along side windows. I didn't really like how it is managed with a requirement for internet access if you don't want to pull your hair out from repositories and what not. Anyway, I managed to delete the partations that Ubuntu used and after a long trial and error managed to get back my HD to the way it was before Ubuntu and installed Windows 7 again successfully.

I, however, have afolder full of program sources and I was about to install them all. (DirectX 9, Visual Studio C# 2010, Notepad++, etc...). The problem is, some of them won't install. Whenever I double click the install.exe file a DOS prompt window flashes for 1 second and disappears with nothing else. I managed to read some of the text inside and it said "Out of Memory" But I couldn't read anything else.
The weird part, there is about 15 program sources in there. Some works fine and some won't work; it is random and all of them were there the whole time.

What might this problem be? I have never had this problem before and I re-installed Windows 7 3 times before and it never had this problem...

What can I do to solve this?

My laptop's specs (Dell Inspiron 1525) are:
    2.5 GB RAM
    Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0
    Intel GMA X310 graphics card.
    150 HD Western

Thank you very much and best wishes!

Is this folder with all your programs located on the Desktop?
Keeping a lot of files on the Desktop will slow down computer and might cause problems.

You may receive an "Out of Memory" error message because of the desktop heap limitation in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    This might be a solution.

Well, other programs that would require much more memory to install, installed fine. Not sure why the loot. Even when I backed up some of the non working ones before this whole problem occured, the backed up ones work. Their non backed up version doesn't work.

Not sure what is wrong with that. The folder however, is located in the D:\ drive, while Windows on C:\

Have you tried fix on that MS page?

Their non backed up version doesn't work.
Sounds like a virus behaviour. Might consider checking your system for viruses with fresh anti-virus bases updates.

By the way, Microsoft Security Essentials is a totally free antivirus (for home users)
