Having an issue with jre 6u24

    Hi,

I have a jar file that I want to execute on my Win 7 box but when I run it, it says "main class not found" when double-clicking on it to launch. When I open a command-line box and type in "java -jar ap.jar", then it works fine. This problem is just when I double-click it.

To make sure it tries to run it with the JRE, I did an "open with.." and selected the JRE there, but still no go.

I have then copied the jar file across to another box that had the jre already installed and it works there, so there is nothing wrong with the jar file itself.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

    Thanks!

I have issues opening it, not the code. The application works fine in other Windows installations (it works on a macbook as well), it is just on this one Windows 7 box that it would not open.

And I have uninstalled the JRE and rebooted several times, but still no joy.

    Thanks :)

I have downloaded and installed the JRE numerous times to try and solve this, but it does not work. As I said, it works fine where starting it from the command-line, but when I double-click on it, then I get that error.

And the JRE is associated with the .jar extention. It definitely loads the JRE, because it is the JRE itself that complains about the "main class not found".

Thanks for the link. I am going to run JavaRa to make sure everything gets removed and then do a re-install....

Yes, going to follow them. The jre that I downloaded is the "offline install" version, but I am going to follow the instructions step-by-step.

The only real difference between these steps and what I have done previously, is that I did not close my web browser first. I allowed the jre install to close it for me. But for this one I will make sure nothing runs.

    Thanks.
