File Extension Problem (Really bad)

What I think I did was set appiclication (by accident) to default of VLC media player, this had litterally f**ked everything up heres a screenshot.

When I attempt to open an appication, I have to go
Open With...> Set the appication
And everything changes

Please help is annouying and I dont know what to do. :/
